Thai 1-Year Course

The 1-Year Thai Language and Culture course focuses on introducing both Thai Language and Culture to international students. Students will study: speaking, listening, reading and writing throughout the program, through a series of carefully designed lectures, presentations and workshops. We estimated that by the end of the course students will be at a pre-intermediate level.

Thai culture is an important aspect of language acquisition – for this reason the 1-year Thai Language and Culture course aims to introduce Thai culture through both in class activities and field excursions. This may include activities such: Thai cooking, Muay Thai kickboxing, Thai music and dance, Buddhism, Thai history, Arts and films. Weekend activities and excursions will be organised on a monthly basis, however the fee will not be included in the overall program fees shown.

This program will appeal to a number of different people from differing backgrounds; however all of these people will have one common objective, to learn Thai through a natural approach to learning. This course has been designed for being able to use Thai in everyday life.

There are no formal entry requirements for 1-Year Thai Language and Culture course, all we demand is that the student has the personal characteristics which include the motivation and desire to learn about Thai Language and Culture. This is a 12-month program. Class will meet 6-hours per week.

Certificate in Thai will be offered every month, depending on the number of student enrolments, and Language Institute reserves the right to cancel a program if it does not meet the minimum number of student enrolments.

Class will only be held Monday to Friday either (morning session – 09.00 to 12.00, afternoon session 13.00 to 16.00 or evening session 16.00 to 19.00). We do not offer weekend programs.

The program fee is 35,000 Thai baht (plus a non-refundable 3,000 Thai baht registration fee).

Effective 31st March 2015 – the maximum age for students to apply for this program will be 60 years due to the regulations related to the issuance of Non Immigrant Education visas as per the request of Chiang Mai Immigration for Chiang Mai University’s 1-Year Certificate in Thai Language Program.
